A story that has been told many times..........

Penny was just 3 days my junior. That being the case, we were as children much the same size despite the fact that in later life I grew horizontally whereas Penny always remained slim! But anyway, the similarity in size led one of our aunts (not sure which one) to think that it would be a good idea to hold a dress, that they had bought for Penny's birthday, up against me to see whether it would be likely to fit. This was in the days before any concept of gender equality existed and even at our young age I was keenly aware that Penny was a girl and I was not.

No wonder we bickered for years after that!
